The Glass Menagerie" is a memory play by Tennessee Williams that follows the Wingfield family as they navigate fragile dreams, family obligations, and the harsh realities of 1930s St. Louis. The play is narrated by Tom Wingfield, who recounts his memories of life with his mother, Amanda, and sister, Laura, in a cramped St. Louis apartment during the Great Depression. Tom works in a shoe warehouse to support the family but longs for adventure and escape, often retreating into movies, literature, and alcohol. Amanda, a faded Southern belle, clings to memories of her youth and pressures her children to secure a better future. Laura, physically fragile due to a leg brace and socially anxious, retreats into her collection of delicate glass animal figurines, her "glass menagerie," which symbolizes her vulnerability and isolation
